The clicker has a slight curvature in one direction and the best way to 'Snap' the disk is to grab the edges and gently flex the middle of the disc to reverse the bend till it "clicks" Once snapped, you will begin to see the crystals form. One year later the large green rectangular Hot Snapz still work well. They have gotten plenty of use. We had trouble at first; the discs are very hard to snap. Then we found out that rubbing the disc is enough. No need to fight.

Quality construction and work really well. Thick plastic, no leaks, and produce a lot of heat. WARNING: When regenerating, be sure to WATCH or set a timer -- my wife walked away, the water boiled off, and we ended up with a fire on the cooktop (complete with fire alarm and fire truck response!). That's totally our fault, and not a problem with the product -- but I still want to caution everyone when regenerating this type of hand warmer.
