When I opened it up and saw all the tiny intricate pieces and read some of the directions, I was a little overwhelmed. I started the first ornament and took each step one at a time. This made it a little less overwhelming and I finished my first ornament and it doesn't look too bad. I am ready for ornament #2. See my finished ornament. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Lovely but not beginner friendly *by A***Y on Reviewed in the United States on December 15, 2019* I love the finished product but getting there wasn't the easiest.This is the first felt stocking I've done in decades so I was rusty. I had to rely on the instructions alone till some memory started coming back of what I did before. That's the main problem with the kit...the instructions.They are printed on a large sheet of paper (19" x 25") on both sides, sections put where ever they fit so you'll end up refolding a lot. The instructions are sparse, they don't give tips or do hand-holding, it's easy to miss something or misunderstand. Kits I did previously were much more informative than this and remembering bits of earlier instructions helped here. The main omission with this kit is not telling you to baste down larger (especially) felt pieces before you applique. That will save hours/days of frustration, especially for the horns. (pinning doesn't work well with thick layers of felt) You will need to refer to the photo that comes with the stocking a lot, and at times you'll need to puzzle things out.You get plenty of floss, beads, and sequins, but polyfill and a large embroidery needle aren't included. (I scavenged filling from a cheap stuffed animal for this, you don't need much) The needles that are included weren't very good so I used my own (Singer assortment), and you should get some needle threaders because you'll be changing thread a lot. I also bought a pair of small detail scissors and strongly suggest you do too. They make ALL the difference because you usually end up having to cut out pieces on the wrong side of the line and precision cutting really matters here. You're going to spend many hours putting this together, make it as easy for yourself as you can.This kit isn't beginner friendly, it's best if you have some hand-sewing/felt stocking experience (and patience). But when you do complete it, it's an impressive piece. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ I’ve done 13 Bucilla kits. For my kids and grandchildren... *by S***D on Reviewed in the United States on January 18, 2020* Now one for each of my nieces & nephews...8 more stockings 🤪I feel you really need to be organized and somewhat patient to do these. 1. Picture the thread comes in a jumble. You must lay out the thread and slowly pull each color out. 2. Picture all have been separated. 3. Instructions says to cut thread in half, which makes the thread more manageable to work with. I recommend pull the long colors apart first then cut. Hint: When separating the strands of thread needed to embroider. Take the color you will be working with. There are 6 strands wrapped together. Grab on to one strand and slowly pull. Repeat when you need more. DON’T try and pull more than one at a time you’ll get a knot. 4.
