The story was set during the 1870s or before that when this book was written. We can imagine how the man could possibly carry out this challenge considering the limited means of transportation during that time. With his new valet, also a loyal to the core companion, Passepartout, he sets out to accomplish the set mission. The writing is engagingly good and filled with playful words that display wisdom, information based on actual facts, wit and sarcasm. The perfect combination that kept me wanting for more! Reading this book made me feel like I was in a video game world in which I had to do my best to accomplish the mission to save my life! The characters are well etched, my favourite being Passepartout. His monologues are the best! The highlights for this book would be the different places in different countries including India (the first place they visited) and I was quite surprised with how much knowledge that little part provided based on real events. One example would be the discussion on Sati (women had to jumped into the burning pyre of their dead husbands sacrificing their lives). More such information based at different places are mentioned as well. An amazing read. You will go on reading until you find out if they really accomplished their mission or not! Pick up this book if you don’t know what to pick up next or if you have been a victim of average reads recently.
