They are not at their best exposed centre stage. The tuned port should not face the audience if at all possible.This unit will augment a standard hifi system filling in below the frequency band of the shelf/bookcase/floor speakers which usually find life difficult below 75-100hz. This unit will extend your bass cleanly down to 40hz which usually gets plates and similar items rattling in cupboards.If you want more PUNCH or better match with a CD's 20Hz - 30kHz when playing back with the main amplified sound, you should buy an ACTIVE sub with more power delivery than your system produces. At least 100-150w minimum for a 25w system. Bass is power hungry and speaker size responsive so feed it with a good mono amplifier and don't stint on driver size 12 -15" is a good start.I have a old Wharfedale 2 x 10" passive set-up in my bedroom 90% of the time it is idling but just occasionally it comes to life and provides the depth of sound that pleases. Even though the amplifier is delivering less than 1w of power, bass transients will punch this to 3-5w.Buy this LD Systems Installation Series 2 x 8 inch Subwoofer for the sound you want in the space used for listening. Io lo uso su di un impianto hi-fi, e certamente la finitura estetica non è il massimo. Il suono però per l'esborso economico è più che soddisfacente. L'importante è che i diffusori satelliti, ovviamente passivi come il sub, abbiano la stessa efficienza, e cioè 92dB (1W/1m), diversamente se di efficienza maggiore si sentiranno meno bassi, ed al contrario se di efficienza inferiore al sub, i bassi tenderanno ad essere più prepotenti. E' altrettanto ovvio che l'amplificazione dovrà essere sufficiente al pilotaggio dei tre diffusori (non meno di 50W RMS). Il taglio in frequenza del sub è posto a 120Hz (e non viene dichiarata la pendenza di taglio in dB/ottava), che avrei preferito a 80-100Hz, più consono ad un subwoofer posizionabile in qualsiasi punto della stanza di ascolto in quanto le frequenze al di sotto degli 80-100 Hz diventano omnidirezionali e monofoniche. Fa uso di 2 driver da 200mm con 2 cross-over separati per entrambi i canali, caricati in un sistema bass-reflex a labirinto acustico con una sola porta di uscita. Attenzione all'impedenza, di 8 Ohm, che deve corrispondere a quella dei diffusori satelliti.La potenza dichiarata è di 100W RMS a canale che dovrebbe assicurare 115 dB SPL. Notevole, sopratutto in ambiente domestico anche di grandi dimensioni.Ottimo anche il venditore.
