Doesn’t give off a lot of light but if you already have some other deck lighting it will add to it. Cute item, slightly over priced in my opinion **Q: If I wanted to use these on a picnic table would they be bright enough to see our food while eating?** A: The light from these is about like a candle...not a high level of lumens. To answer you question, I’d say it would depend on how many of these lanterns you use at your picnic table...and how big that table is.
