Review: Turns a normal wall switch into a smart one (great for rentals) ✅🔘 - I got the SwitchBot Smart Switch Toggle to automate a traditional wall switch without rewiring, and it works exactly as expected. It’s a clever solution if you’re renting, don’t want to change the switch, or just need a quick smart upgrade. What I like ✅ • No wiring required — you can make a regular switch “smart” in minutes 👍 • App control and timers/schedules are very handy (lights on/off automatically) ⏱️💡 • Strong button press action for toggling the switch reliably • Works well for simple routines like morning lights or bedtime shutoff 🌙 • With the Hub Mini, it integrates with Alexa/Google Home/IFTTT for voice control and automations 🔗🗣️ What could be better ⚠️ • You need a good mounting position: if the switch is stiff or recessed, placement can take a bit of trial and error • Looks slightly “gadgety” on the wall (not completely invisible) • For voice assistants you must add the Hub Mini (not standalone) Bottom line: A practical, renter-friendly way to automate existing switches without an electrician. Perfect for lights, fans, and simple on/off devices ✅✨ Rating: ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
Review: When the Manufacturer Failed, SwitchBot Delivered - I bought this to solve a very specific and frustrating problem. I’d purchased a TV bed but wanted the TV to retract automatically once it powered off. Unfortunately, the bed’s remote uses a closed, proprietary protocol, and the manufacturer offered no support. The only manual control beyond the remote control was a rocker switch hidden under the ottoman, which is far from ideal. Enter SwitchBot. Installing the bot onto the rocker switch wasn’t easy due to the awkward layout of the switch, but I managed it using the supplied fixings. I even reinforced the setup with a metal bracket to ensure consistent pressure and positioning as the rocker is actually quite stiff Within five minutes and a few tests, it worked flawlessly. Seeing how well it performed, I then purchased the SwitchBot Hub to integrate with Home Assistant. I created an automation that detects when the TV disconnects from the network (i.e. goes into standby), which then triggers the SwitchBot to press and hold the rocker switch for a fixed time period. This lowers the TV into the bed. Once fully lowered, power to both the TV and the SwitchBot Hub is cut off automatically, meaning everything stays off until someone next raises the TV again using the bed’s remote, which re-enables the power supply. It’s a brilliantly simple yet effective solution to what seemed like a complex problem. Highly recommended. I've been using this setup issue-free for several years now, and I can confidently say this is a fantastic and reliable product. I’ve changed the batteries in the bot a few times, but it continues to perform flawlessly. It presses a very firm rocker with noticeable force, holds it for about 20 seconds, then retracts. This action has repeated countless times without a single hiccup. Today, it remains a hassle-free and indispensable part of my smart home.

## Questions & Answers

**Q: hi, if this works on a rocker switch, i take it you would need 2 of them per switch, one to flick on and one to flick off?**
A: No, only one bot is sufficient. You will use the add-on that comes with it so SwitchBot could push or lift up the rocker switch for ON/OFF control.

**Q: Is this able to switch a standard rocker light switch on AND off please?**
A: Yes. I use one for this purpose. Be sure not to lose the small plastic 'loop' which comes with it. This is required for the 'pull' action to turn the light switch back to the off position. The main unit has an appendage, for the want of a better word, to take care of the 'push' action. When it retracts the attached 'loop' pulls on the light switch, returning it to the off position. My light switches are reasonably stiff but the Switchbot has no trouble - surprisingly strong push/pull action.

There's a short delay from command to action but it's working flawlessly via the app (I don't have the hub yet). For the price it's a great solution but you just have to accept the short delay in action and also that it's not the most aesthetically pleasing. Used in a visually prominent position it may look a little bulky to say the least but for switches out of main eye line and hard to reach switches the look is far less an issue to be concerned with. Rememeber also if you use just one on a 2-way switch (eg hall and landing) you must always use it to turn on and off or manually turn on and off. Otherwise you risk mixing up the on and off command via the app.

**Q: Can I over-ride switch-bot and turn the lights on/off manually?**
A: Thanks for your question.
Yes. The Bot won't bother the manual actions. You can still turn on/off the switches manually s well.

**Q: Hello has anybody used one of these to flick a fuse switch ?**
A: YES, I got it working, but not out of the box, you need to play around with the position of the sticky pad with the loop, and place it such that you are maximizing the distance between the pivot point of the switch, and the point where the SwitchBot presses down on it. But be careful to ensure that the switch can still press down fully if the pad hangs of the edge of the switch, as this could cause problems. See my review for more details.

### ⭐⭐⭐⭐ SwitchBot Smart Switch Button Pusher – A Clever Gadget with a Few Caveats
*by J***N on 17 May 2025*

I picked up the SwitchBot Button Pusher to make some of my older devices “smarter” without rewiring or replacing them — and it’s honestly more useful than I expected. ✅ What works well: • Instant smart control for dumb devices – I’m using mine on a coffee machine and an old power switch, and it triggers them perfectly. Great for turning things on/off remotely. • Easy setup – The SwitchBot app is simple to use, and pairing over Bluetooth took less than 2 minutes. • Strong pushing force – It’s surprisingly powerful and works on most light switches, buttons, and even some rocker switches (with the included add-on hook). • Works with Alexa, Google, and HomeKit (with the hub) – Great if you’re building out a smart home ecosystem. ⚠️ A few things to note: • You’ll want the Hub – Without it, you’re limited to Bluetooth range only. If you want remote control or voice assistant support, the SwitchBot Hub Mini is essential. • Surface prep matters – If the adhesive isn’t properly applied, it may come loose over time. Clean the surface thoroughly before mounting. • Not ideal for recessed buttons or switches with very little resistance. 💬 Final thoughts: If you’re looking for a smart way to automate non-smart devices without any rewiring, the SwitchBot Button Pusher is a clever solution. It won’t work for every type of button or switch, but in the right setup, it’s genuinely useful and fun to use. I’d give it 4.5 stars if I could — loses a half-point for the reliance on the hub and limitations on certain buttons.
