It is fabulous for cutting tomatoes and other vegetables. I felt the handle would wear out so I decided to buy a more substantial Ulu knife and decided on this one. It arrived in great condition. It needed to be sharpened. I sharpened it and tried to cut vegetables. It will cut them, but it smushes tomatoes more than slicing them. It is the thickness. However, get after a piece of meat with this and it is in its element. The handle on this knife seems as if it will last forever.
