A: Yes, its empty.

**Q: is the metal casing big enough to engrave something on it?**
A: I am not experienced with engraving but I can tell you the area on this oil vial that has the most metal on it is 1"x.25."

**Q: what oil do people put in this and why? are there any other uses?**
A: Usually a blessing oil of olive and frankensence and myrrh.

**Q: is the inside glass container removable or do you pour a drop out of the metal container directly?**
A: You pour directly out of the container. I bought a very small funnel to put oil into the vial. The window of glass allows you to see how much oil is in the vial. I really like this vial!
