The FM8VE has been specially designed for the UK market and comes fitted with a large 3000watt (3hp) motor which is the largest that can be used with a UK 3 pin plug. To start the motor you simply push the green button, to operate the ram the splitter has a two levers so that it cannot be operated one handed, making it compliant with the latest safety regulations,after you have finished push the red button to stop the motor. The FM8VE splitter has 3 set heights for the base, 1050mm 815mm and 560mm so you can adjust the splitter for various size logs, simply unhook the platform and move to the required height, in addition to this you do not have to let the ram travel the full distance back to the top. Ordered Monday arrived before lunch Tuesday, assembled Tuesday pm and split a ton or more of logs on Wednesday.Seems a very solid piece of kit, slightly tricky to assemble single handed but only due to weight of some components. Coped with everything I put through it so far including 15" diameter beech trunk/ branch junction that I never could have split with an axe (took a bit of fiddling to get through it but split everything else like butter) Only slight criticism is that the 'claws' that grip the log do not provide grip on anything under about 5" diameter, but can probably solve this with some spacers.
