While putting together a good cast and a prequel story, the 2nd one really was LAZY-it was just too much retreading of the first with good actors replacing other good actors. This film "Death Race 3: Inferno" or "Death Race: Inferno" is totally different. It sets up an entire plot that allows all of the solid actors here to shine in there roles. It also plays up a young jerks wish to undermine and take over Death Race, the frankenstein scenario and ending of the film is brilliant, and what about the cover-art, and look? Well, that is what makes this one stand out. We take the racing OFF the island, into a new area with another really messed-up person half running the show in a crummy third world country, and off it goes. We view intentional horrible areas where it gets a little mad-max but doesn't really play on the futuristic. It gives it a more raw feel and thus freshness. On top of it, there's a lot going on behind the scenes within the film, making it extra engaging while we enjoy the "off-road death races" and how that works. It also doesn't work, but in the way that leads up to the climax and ultimately the pay-off. Without spoiling anything, the ending of this film is brilliant. We see someone get there just dues in a rather creepy, intelligent, and horrific way. We see others get to be happy, we get a conclusion of sorts to the franchise. It circles back far better than the last as a prequel to where the first movie can happen and leaves us with knowledge that makes the whole franchise better. Unfortunately, they made another one with little racing, skip it and just watch 1 and 3, others only if curious or free on a service, or you have to own 2 to enjoy this one, which I honestly don't think you even need to watch 2 to understand this one. So if you want more death race but high quality as this franchise gets, then this is the sequel for you to the death race remake film. Review: Awesome movie! - This is such a great movie!
