Insta360 X5 Invisible Dive Case Pro

Excellent case that makes underwater scuba videos with the X5 possible. No issues with stitching or underwater quality. I was skeptical at first because other reviews suggested it scratches easily, but that's far from the truth. Three dives so far, carried in its case between dives, and no scratches on the lenses. The case is positively buoyant, which takes some getting used to, and holding it extended will definitely tire your hand. Out of the water, it's slightly heavy, but not as heavy or as big as others mentioned. In fact the size is quite reasonable compared to other cases I've seen for generic cameras. Video recording is great, but it depends heavily on how much light penetrates from the surface. I took it cavern diving with some external lighting and realized it will take trial and error to figure out lighting and angles for better image quality in those conditions. That's out of scope though, as it's not about the case but about how 360 cameras work in general. The maximum depth I reached with it was a bit more than 100 feet (30-32 meters) on a shipwreck. Video came out looking amazing. I'd definitely welcome lighting accessories, adapters for sticks, and an even higher-quality case option from Insta360.

Great kit, amazing clarity, easy access to buttons, problematic value. Came with the desicant strips, and lens guard/cover. Metal handle functioned like a weight and good knurling for grip. But cost/value needs help as other products have similar performance but for a fraction of the cost.

Holy crap this thing is huge and heavy. This thing weighs what feels like about 2lbs with the handle and no camera in it. We shall see how this works out.

Insta 360 Dive case pro looks awesome, works as described

1st time out yesterday feedback: Large improvement in clarify over the standard case. The included case is useless if you use the Dive Buddy because you can’t put it through the bottom hole without unscrewing it. Tried putting it on backwards but feel right out as I was getting out of the water. Still some reflection issues. I had just gotten a clamshell silicon case for my standard case but this is much bigger so hope 3rd party that made the aforementioned case makes one for the pro—will buy immediately.

Works really well. Footage is incredible for both snorkeling and diving. Some issues: Scratches: The main con is it can get scratched easily, even with the cover on, and dive boats are notoriously rough. Wish the material was a bit more resistant. Case detection: The other issue is more with the insta X5 in that it sometimes doesn’t automatically detect the dive case making it a huge headache to switch to that mode. Weight and buoyancy: Make no mistake the case setup is bulky, but the footage is worth it. Even with the weighted stick it comes with it is very positively buoyant. The custom stick you can buy separately to help with that created another issue - you can’t get the cover on the case since the stick is too thick. Overall: even with the above issues well worth it given the quality of the footage

The case is well made but do not expect any "seamless" video, even with all the settings correct, there are still faint parrel lines on the footage, mostly to the front and side, not facing the user. I have only used in snorking, so it might be better at depth, but to be honest, even at 4m down, you can still see the seams and it does make some footage unusable. Very disappointed given the price and also, the advertising. UPDATE: I have been engaged with Insta360, who have admitted there is an issue with stitching, especially when shallow and light refraction happens, so if you want to use it at snorkeling depth, I'd wait until they have fixed the stitching issue. It's simply not usable otherwise. At depth, there is still an issue, but not relating to light refraction, but stitching. They have asked me to try it in Studio and not the app, which I'll try and update this review afterwards. It remains, far from 'seamless'.

Insta360 replaced it without any issues for free when the bolts broke. the bolts on the case, connecting to the weight block, are made out of plastic. be very careful when tightly securing the case to the weight block and stick. if you tighten too tight, the plastic nuts break and you can use quick fix plastic glue and some wiring to fix it temporarily but the dive case then needs to be replaced. they should make the connector nuts not out of plastic but metal or ceramic

Absolutely huge and videos you get out of it are super low quality , if you want a 360 water case get the plastic one , basically half the size , cheaper and the result are exactly the same as this giant heavy glass bowl
