Individual pieces of foam move independently, allowing the pillow to be adjusted to fit your shape. Additionally this pillow is more "breathable" due to its shredded foam pieces so that the warm air cold escape while being replaced with fresh, cool air.The pillow provides very comfortable support for sleeping on back for me. However, I am not so comfortable sleeping on side on this pillow. Luckily, I found this one and I couldn't be happier! It is just as good if not better than my husband's pillow and much easier on my wallet. I highly recommend it. It does have a bit of an odor when first opened but spray it with some fabric spray and throw it in the dryer for 40 minutes or so to fluff it up quickly and you'll be ready for the best sleep of your life.
