I did read some bad reviews and was hesitant.My first impression was that it was a low quality prime steak, not as much marbling as the ones I purchase locally but we will see if the next one has more. I did like the thickness of the steak, it was absolutely perfect for sous vide. Yes sous vide! If you don't cook your steaks via sous vide, well your doing it all wrong :) that's my opinion of course, JK...it's a fact!I would recommend this purchase as long as it stays below 25/lb, otherwise I'd buy from the butcher.---------------------Update:Purchased it again, has more marbling but not trimmed nicely.I'd say this is definitely inferior to the Prime cuts I typically purchase, but good enough ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ 5.0 out of 5 stars One Great Steak! *by T***A on Reviewed in the United States on August 3, 2017* As I get older I have found that I don't eat as much beef. However, recently I decided to start eating some beef again and decided to order one of these steaks to try. Unfortunately, the order page doesn't tell you anything about where this beef came from. When it arrived, it had sticker on the back that said "LaFrieda" ... with a picture of a cow. Since I've never heard of La-Frieda I looked them up on the Internet. I found a statement that their "beef are grass fed for about 85% of their lives and finished on a high quality corn/grain diet to increase tenderness and marbleization". I would like to find out more, but this is enough to make me order more. So, I am back to reorder.All I can say this is this was the best steak I've had in a very long time. When the steak arrived it was vacuum packaged and thawed. I froze it for about a week and thawed it in the refrigerator. When opened it was a healthy color and did not drip blood.. and, no strange smells. A very good sign. As for cooking? ... well, it cooked up beautifully. I was impressed with how tender this steak was... rare from top to bottom... and side to side. And, did I mention, it tasted great!UPDATE -- 6 Sep 2017: Since my initial order I have ordered another strip steak, as well as other cuts of beef from Pat LaFrieda, not to mention the bacon, sausage, chicken, etc. With each purchase I have been more than pleased. Everything has been super fresh and has tasted great.
