I googled support pages that said it could be (1) a faulty hard drive, (2) a faulty hard drive cable, or (3) a loose connection between the hard drive and the hard drive cable. I confirmed that (3) wasn't a problem. Next, after swapping my hard drive out into another macbook to confirm that it was still working, I determined the problem wasn't (1). I decided to swap out the hard drive cable with this replacement part from amazon, put the hard drive back in, and everything worked again. The most challenging part is dealing with the adhesive backing, which is to say, its not that difficult. The cable looks like an exact replacement for the apple part, and it works. The part shipped quickly and was decently packaged. It saved me from getting another laptop so yay. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐ Delicate but important Drive cable - includes IR module! *by M***E on Reviewed in the United States on April 21, 2018* At the time I ordered this, somehow I damaged the original HDD cable inside a 13" MacBook Pro I was upgrading.
