If someone gets in a hurry and is pushing on the door before this activates it will not open. There can't be any force at all. I even had to modify my door frame a bit so that the door, when at rest, is not pushing on the latch otherwise it would not open. After it was installed and modifications were complete it has been reliable for almost a year now. I have it powered through a battery backup system so it will work when the power goes out. By no means would I use it for an actual install however as it is flimsy (the plate itself can be flexed by hand) and unnecessarily large vertically.
