The Art of LEGO MINDSTORMS EV3 Programming (Full Color)

Excellent book. Highly recommended ! Got a different book to learn about the EV3 in general but that book focused a little too much in trying to program the robot from the on-board screen/button, which is cumbersome and not practical. This book on the other hand is full of great little projects to help kids (or adults like me) learn how to program efficiently. I am 1/3 into the book, and really like it. My daughter is currently reading it and she also enjoys it. The little projects are specific enough that kids keep engaged while learning. We got the kindle edition and my only complaint is that on the really big programs the graphs are not crisp enough to read all the details, but with some effort is doable.

Excellent book for learning LEGO Mindstorm EV3 programming. I want to be ahead of the learning curve as my great grandson is starting to get into learning to program this series of LEGOs from his grand parents buying him the Mindstorm EV3 LEGOs.

I think this would be an excellent starting point for anybody that is doing FLL. I think the level of the descriptions and details would work out well with the FLL teams that do not have much experience with programming. The book covers some interesting things that I didn't know - saving data to files for example and then opening it up in EXCEL to get a good idea on what light level to use for line following.

A top-level students can understand this book as written. An average students can understand the vocabulary and sentences, but needs an adult's help in processing the significance of some of the content. I love the EV3 Mindstorms as a platform for teaching introductory programming, and this is the book I would recommend as a textbook. Also, if you are an educator (or new FLL Mentor) and need to learn how to program the EV3s, I would recommend this book. If you are the sort of highly motivated student who begged mom for a LEGO set, this is the book I would recommend to you to learn how to use it. (Technical note: you only need a Core Set to do the programs in the book. However, those with the Home Edition might want to purchase a gyro sensor separately. The book has instructions for both the Home Edition and the Education Edition LEGO sets, but Education Edition purchasers take note, the Home Edition instructions usually come first. It is helpful if a teacher note these cases and warn the students of them).

Even if you do not believe yourself to be a beginner, this book will give you a very solid foundation on which to build your EV3 programming skils. It is based on the Home edition of Lego Mindstorms but is equally valid for the Training Version also. This book far surpasses the books that come with Lego Mindstorms Home Edition. It also surpasses most of the on-line EV3 tutorials that I have seen.

was trying to help my grandson to program his mindstorm robot with this, but the program interface is out of date. The concepts are still there, but the graphics need to be updated. some of the functions are a bit different as well.

It covers the basics so if you are new to programming, this book can guide you to program your EV3. Highly recommended for people new to EV3 and new to programming. I'm a programmer so it was easy for me to follow and sometimes too basic, but I believe that is the purpose of this book. Hope it helps.

Este es un excelente libro para iniciarse en el mundo de LEGO EV3, lejos de ser un juguete mas, el EV3 brinda la posibilidad de desarrollar modelos realmente relevantes mediante la programacion y esto es a lo que esta enfocado el libro, a conocer los principios de programacion hasta procedimientos complejos. La ayuda visual que maneja el libro es de lo mejor la representacion grafica ayuda mucho a la comprension de los conceptos, ademas que inlcuye los modelos basicos a armar para poder programar y usar todas las funciones de los sensores y motores en conjunto. Aunque es totalmente en ingle sin duda este libro es recomendable tanto para chicos y adultos que gusten de armar y programar LEGO EV3. Gracias

Hay que tener en cuenta de que está en inglés y aunque sea un inglés asequible son 250 páginas, muy difícil que los niños lo lean. Ideal para quien quiera aprender desde los inicios, se puede utilizar para enseñar a los menores, muy buen libro para esta función. El libro es de programación, enseña como funciona el programa sorftward de LEGO y todas sus posibilidades, muy detallista, para no perderte casi nada. Un montón de ejercicios con ejemplos y dibujos para aprender de todo. Muy completo.

This book cover properly the various aspect of programming for someone who want discover the world of mindstorm & how does it works

This is superb inspiration for kids and me :-)

Good one for beginners to start with self learning.
