CURT 13323 Class 3 Trailer Hitch, 2-Inch Receiver

tl;dr I purchased this for a 2013 Toyota Tacoma 4 door pickup. It was shipped securely, installed by a novice in 60 minutes and was successfully towing a utility trailer the next day. The box had 2 corners partially crushed but was not of great concern to me as the shape of the product does not lend itself to easily holding up all corners of a cube. The entire unit was wrapped in thick bubble wrap (probably 3-4 layers) and necessary hardware was safely taped inside the wrapping). Despite the box damage, the receiver was in perfect condition. This was the first modification I've made to this truck (and the first in over a decade when I did some stereo install) so I am every bit a novice. The instructions were flawless and the entire process from unboxing to cleanup was completed in 60 minutes. On my truck there are 5 bolts on each side which may come into play with the installation (they hold the bumper assembly to the frame. This is a pretty basic, 3-step process. 1. Remove 2 bolts & loosen 2 others on the bumper assembly (note, this will cause the bumper to sag a bit, I held it up with some basic jack stands though I don't feel any extra support was necessary). 2. Insert the receiver into the slot created when removing the 2 bolts and reattach the bolts (not tightening fully yet) 3. Remove the 2 remaining bolts, insert the spacers (used to keep the bumper assembly an even width apart from the frame, since you just added some extra width with the receiver) and reattach the bolts. It is recommended to do the final tightening with a torque wrench. I did not have one but the auto parts store closest to my house let me use one in their parking lot for free. I was a bit hesitant to purchase as several of the reviewers mentioned having to force the receiver into place with a hammer. This was perfectly sized for my truck and did not require even the slightest push; with the bolts loosened it slid right in. As a result, I would not hesitate to recommend this receiver to anyone!

This Winch is very heavy duty. If you are mechanically inclined, this will be a straight forward install.

Installed on a 2011 Toyota Tacoma and it fit perfectly. Hoping it lasts like all other Curt Hitches I have. There was a hitch from U-Haul on it before lasted about 6 years and it rusted completely. So hopefully this one last longer. Time will tell but it appears to be well made.They do send new Bolts with the hitch.

Looks good and sturdy! Easy to install, the brackets both ends it needs to hit little bit with sledge hammer to make it straight. because it bends from shipping, that’s why it doesn’t fit when i try to install it for the first time…

The hitch looks great, very well constructed. Unfortunately, I can't yet test it as it is not on my vehicle. And this is the warning I have for anyone contemplating the purchase of this item. I have a 2010 Tacoma with Access Cab. In fact, this brings me back to my earlier days working on my VW bug, Rabbit, Datsun F10, every car I had before I made enough money to have a mechanic do the work. The instructions are straightforward, as is the video on YouTube. Makes it look very easy to mount. There are two problems. The first is that I have a 2010 truck and this is 2017. That means there is 7 years of rust on the bolts holding on the bumper. You have to remove a total of 10 of them. Just like every car manual I have ever read, the instructions for this hitch do not mention this as a potential problem. Nor do they have any suggestions as to how to remove stubborn bolts. They just assume that everyone has the tools available to a garage mechanic and lots of penetrating oil. By the way, Toyota spot welds some of the nuts to the frame, so you can't crack them off. I have worked for 2 days to get these bolts off without damaging them, and have only succeeded in removing 5. I would suggest that the manufacturer provide a warning about this, or at least tell the buyer to look at the bolts first to determine if they can be removed with the tools you have. And provide some tips on removing rusted bolts!!! The second issue is that the video in particular demonstrates the installation by someone in a repair garage with a hydraulic lift. There aren't too many of us with that kind of equipment. So, while they easily access the bolts and remove/install them, I am on my back under the back of my truck with nowhere near the same room that they show. They should also advise you to put a couple of jackstands under the bumper as I did, else this will come crashing down on your chest. I'm now going to have to take this to a local garage and have this installed, so I have lost several days' time. I also don't know if it would have been cheaper to just take it to a place that sells and installs hitches. Just a word to the wise.

I received my Curt Manufacturing 13323 Class III Receiver right away, and all the parts I needed were included. The directions were very clear, except that the nut and bolt sizes listed were much smaller than the actual hardware that was sent. The included hardware was the right size for the job, so I'm going to guess that the instructions had the wrong sizes written. I was able to install the hitch receiver all by myself, but I'd recommend having someone help you, if possible. Two people would have made the job go a lot faster. I assume that most people installing this themselves will not have access to a vehicle lift. so, to make the project easier, I strongly recommend having the following items at your disposal: - a creeper - two jacks - two ratchets (short handle and long handle) - A breaker bar - A pry bar or big screwdriver. - another person Use one jack to hold your bumper in place when you loosen it, to install the hitch receiver. Use the other jack to raise the hitch receiver into place, since it weighs about 40 lbs. Remember to park on on a flat surface - using jacks on a sloped surface, like a driveway, is not advised. The creeper will make it easy to get to where all the bolts are. You'll need a breaker bar to loosen the nuts that hold the bumper on. The pry bar, or big screwdriver, will help you separate the support bracket from the frame of the truck. (Don't stick your fingers anywhere they might get pinched!) I'm really happy with the end result.

This is a very nice hitch kit. I am 78 years of age and my son and I installed this hitch with little trouble on a Tacoma 2010 vehicle. I do recommend removing the bumper and soaking the bolts you have to remove well in advance of installation. The installation goes much easier if two people do it, I don't care if you are 18 or 80. I highly recommend this hitch for the quality, fit and finish.

Not for the faint of heart, absolute pain to install, I had to use a high jack on the bumper, but one all that is done, and you’ve dented it up in anger, it’s pretty sturdy

The hitch seems very strong...and the fit is great. It took me awhile to install it but that was mostly due to the rusted bolts in the frame...not due to the Curt hitch product.

The hitch fit my 2010 Tacoma perfectly. A nice change from the old rusty one. It does not have the bracket for the 2 bolts that tie the OEM one to the bumper, but given how securely it bolts to the frame this should not be a problem.
