ＬＰで手に入れました。ギターの音のぬけとかいい気がします。これより前のメタリカの作品は、ギターの音がメタルなひずみで、ＣＤでもいいと思うのですが、ロードはふくよかなひずみなので、ＬＰで聴いた方がいい気はします。迫力もあるので、Ｋｉｎｇ Ｎｏｔｈｉｎｇ は、王冠が崩れていくような、そんな臨場感を感じました。メタリカファンならずとも、ヘビーなロックが好きなら楽しめると思います。

メタリカのロードに、純粋ハードを突き進んでいくカタルシスを感じます。スコーピオンズのフライ ・ツー・ザ ・レインボーやキングクリムゾンのクリムゾン・キングの宮殿に共通します。

コレ、今聴きなおすと実に、名盤である。今までと変わらないダークサイドの雰囲気、体を動かしたくなるリフ、頭の中に何度も繰り返されるフックの効いたグッドメロディー、メタリカそのものである。だけど何かが違う・・・。メタリカがメタリカらしい佇まいでハードロックしている最後の時期って感じがする。今までありそうでなかった方向性。スラッシュメタルとは異なるアプローチだが、メタリカの特徴は十分踏襲されており不思議な感じになっている。当時の位置づけとして、いわゆるグルーヴメタルへの接近も感じる。20世紀までのメタリカにはジェイソンが居た。クリフとは違う、他の3人にとって対等に渡り合える好敵手のジェイソン。他の3人がジェイソンにかっこ悪いところは見せないよう、斬新でいられた？メンバーが常にマウンティングしていたため緊張感があった？そんなうがった説を考えてしまう。それにしても75分以上あるのか、私は長尺な印章は受けなかった。やはり不思議なアルバムだ。
