We have several of the Baby University books, and this one ranks among the best. The concept is easy for kids to understand, keeping the ideas behind robotics very simple, and therefore introducing the topic very well. There is no real mention of the engineering behind building the parts, though there are samples of computer code that I was delighted to show to my children. My 5 year-old is learning to read, and the sentences are very simple with a lot of repetitive language that is easy for her to follow. So many of these books are absolutely wonderful for a variety of small children, and quite frankly, they can be pretty informative for adults. This book is less of a grow-with-me type of book (unlike several of the ABC books), but definitely a great investment if you have children in the age ranges of 0-6 or so. His dad was in the field, so we thought it would be a good buy. The pictures were vibrant and it was interesting to see how an author can break down a complex subject such as robotics for a baby.
