I am not sure I would call this a box spring (since there are no springs) but it serves the same purpose of raising the mattress up higher.I was pleasantly surprised by the easy of assembly and sturdiess once it was built. The fabric covered wood planks that roll out to form the top were the most difficult part. I feel like they were not sized 100% right (seemed a couple inches short). They velcro down to the edges of the box frame but it didn't seem they really stuck securly. It was good enough though that once the mattress is on top, they are not going anywhere.Overall, the mattress did not have any sag or give on top of the box foundation so it seems to work well. I had also read the mattress could wear quicker if the foam slipped down irregularly on box springs. I sprung for the Tuft and Needle foundation because I had the mattress already and also because of the 100 day sleep guarantee.The foundation was easy to put together, I did it myself. It fit well setting in our metal bed frame. $400 was a bit high for this though. There would still be plenty of profit for the T&N guys at a hundred less.Additionally, this bed is the most comfortable bed I’ve ever slept on!
