The Best Vanilla I've Ever Used
I've tried a lot of vanilla over the years, and Danncy Vanilla Dark is, without question, the best. The flavor is rich, smooth, and authentic without tasting artificial or overly sweet. A little goes a long way, whether I'm baking cookies, cakes, or adding a splash to homemade frosting. The double large bottles are an excellent value and lasts a long time, making it perfect for anyone who bakes regularly. Once I switched to Danncy, I stopped buying other brands. If you're looking for a deep, classic vanilla flavor that consistently delivers delicious results, this is the one to buy.

Great vanilla
This vanilla is great for baking sweets. Just be careful not to use too much as it is strong and will make your baked goods too sweet. A little goes a long way. I had been purchasing this vanilla in Mexico for years for $1.99 for the same size bottle. It hurts to pay the higher cost, but it adds such a good flavor to baked goods that I will pay it. (Cheaper than going to Mexico LOL). But overall all excellent product and I will continue to purchase over and over

the Mexican Vanilla I grew up with
If youโre seeing all the reviews complaining that the scent is wrong, rest assured that it smells like the Danncy vanilla I grew up with. We used to get this โred roosterโ vanilla from Mexico when my grandparents wintered in TX. Our family likes it the best of various vanilla extracts. Itโs harder to replace in MN, though as most standard vanilla extracts smell & taste different. (Penzeyโs Mexican Vanilla is the closest but more expensive.) Mom was down to her last tablespoon and starting to panic since the pandemic had restricted her ability to poke around neighborhood stores or fly to Tx for more (which she has done, under the guise of visiting folks, but we know it was to get her vanilla). If Danncyโs the vanilla scent/flavor profile youโre looking for, you found it. If youโre not used to Mexican vanilla, this wonโt match your expectation, but I suggest trying it anyway, especially in baking or whipped cream. The 2 bottles arrived in good condition as they are shipped in a box that fits their plastic bottles properly. But the bottle plastic is thin so be prepared to transfer it to a sturdier bottle once itโs opened.

Not Vanilla.
First let me tell you that one of my degrees is in biochemistry. Secondly, I've been cooking for 42 years. If this has ANY vanillin in it, it's in such low concentration as to be undetectable. I would not by. I don't know what's in it. I should have sent it back immediately, but I decided I'd wait a couple of months, use it, and form an opinion. It's not changed from day 1. Vanilla is a resin type substance. It has to be steeped in 35% alcohol to extract. Therefore, Pure Vanilla Extract, (which is what the label says), is alcohol based. There is NO alcohol in this "vanilla". I KNOW, because I made my own 4 fold extract for years, until vanilla beans reached several hundred dollars per pound. My extract was based on USDA guidelines, which tell you weight of beans per volume of 35% alcohol (I'm sure you didn't know that this existed). But, on top of this, the flavor of this so called "vanilla" is completely off. It doesn't taste like any vanilla I've ever tasted, Mexican, Madagascar Bourbon, Tahitian. The after taste is very slightly cinnamon, but the stuff just tastes BAD. It doesn't taste any better cooked in a recipe. I believe this stuff is a combination of several artificial flavors, attempting to approximate vanilla. But I'm telling you, this is NOT vanilla. The problem is that I can't tell you what's actually in it. I'm retired, but I'm thinking of sending a sample to the University for testing. I'm not going to blame the manufacturer. This could be a fraudulent product made anywhere, with a label slapped on it. But for your own safety, I'll repeat: DO NOT BUY.

which is important for a product that is either loved or hated
I purchased the two bottles from seller DanImports because I saw that they answered a question indicating they have a money back guarantee, which is important for a product that is either loved or hated. The plastic bottles the extract comes in is very thin and a tad flimsy (don't squeeze too hard when picking up), hence one less star. However, the taste itself is good! I'm using the extract in cheesecakes I bake and sell. I've used this vanilla in a variety of flavors and it didn't negatively alter the taste. If anything, I feel like it enhanced the taste of the cheesecakes! Three of us tasted the batter raw (w/o eggs) and then after it was baked, no funny artificial after-taste another viewer mentioned. Compared to the popular McCormick brand, the Danncy extract appears to be thinner and more watery in consistency. It also has a nauseatingly strong smell, until you get used to it. Don't bother doing a smell comparison โ the McCormick pure vanilla extract contains alcohol while the Danncy extract doesn't. I'm no vanilla expert but for the price and amount I use weekly, I can comfortably say you get your money's worth with this buy.

Buy This One
This is the best vanilla out there. It lasts forever, smells amazing, blends great with baking, and I never use any other kind. It's worth every bit of the price and longer shipping time. Fantastic value for the money.
