Unfortunately it does not fill the bill. The Society of Naval Architects and Marine Engineers' publication Design and Construction of Steel Merchant Ships is far better at illustrating the construction techniques from the mid 1950's. There have been updated versions subsequent to the book edited by David Arnott. There is also a better book put out by Reed's series on ship design which has line drawings to illustrate the construction techniques which has been updated over the years.
