I'm studying for a degree in animation, and needed a book that would get me up to speed quickly. I work mainly in Maya and Modo, as well as having used an older version of Z Brush in the past which means that i had a good understanding of 3D terminology and how software like Z Brush works. Someone new to 3D modelling may find some parts of the book a bit hard going, but its worth hanging in their, because the rewards are excellent. One thing i would say is think twice before you by the Kindle version of the book. I bought this because it was realised sometime before the paperback version to use on my laptop, and although its ok, its no substitute for having a hard copy of the book. The layout is a lot better in the book and the images follow the text without having to keep changing pages.Also i was unable to find and down load the disc content from the publishers website, which i was under the impression i could. I ended up buying the hard copy of the book as well, which i don't regret, even if it has caused me to waste extra money. To sum up i would say buy this book now, you won't regret it, but say clear of the Kindle version, as i will do with any future book purchases. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ This is an outstanding book! *by D***R on 31 May 2011* I cannot praise this book too highly, the tutotials on the DVD are worth the price alone. Scott Spencer is a superbly gifted teacher, clear, fluid and inspirational. As a Zbrush virgin I was able to make progress very quickly, but when I hit a small snag I contacted the author who promptly supplied me with a short bespoke video to clarify, and a promise to make a small edit in future editions! Now I call that service above and beyond the call of duty. Apart from the book being in colour, essential when discussing polygroups, another plus about this book is it's perfect physical size. It can be laid open on the desk without the need for masses of paperweights and the binding is flexible enough to 'relax' when open. Rush out and buy a copy without hesitation! ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ essential to any digital sculptor out there *by C***L on 13 April 2011* Absolutely fantastic book and amongst my favourites, Its an amalgamation of his first 2 books (alot is updated for the new features of zbrush 4) and about a third of completely new stuff. Meaning its a great update if you already own the other 2. The book is very well illustrated, printed on high quality paper and explained in a very clear and understandable manor. I would say its an essential book for any zbrush artists out there looking to widen their knowledge of the process and software.
