It is a little more complicated to re-fill than most pencils, because instead of just pulling out the button or eraser at the top and inserting a lead like most pencils, with this one you have to unscrew the bottom half and pull out each tube, slip in new lead, and push the tube back into place, then re-attach the top and bottom halves. Still, it is VERY well made and looks extremely professional, so I think the little extra complexity is well worth it! This mechanical pencil is the same mechanism as the conventional mechanical pencil. The sleeve does not slide. There is also no automatic knock mechanism. The eraser is small, for precision erasing, and is easily replaceable with commonly-available eraser refills. **Q: Can this pencil be bought with 3 x 0.5mm, instead of the 0.3 mm, 0.5 mm and 0.7 mm?** A: Thank you for your inquiry. Unfortunately, 0.5 mm mechanical parts do not sell. Where there is a 0.7 mm mechanism, 0.3 mm and 05 mm do not match. for that reason, 0.5 mm x 3 specification can not be used.
