It was cold when it arrived and was quite grainy. It softened up when it warmed up. I also bought Vermont Maple Beak Balm which DOES have a pleasant hint of maple flavor and is very nice right out of the box. When warm, both products seem equally moisturizing. I had planned to use the Crate 61 as a Christmas gift but will use Vermont Maple Beak Balm instead.
