There is just something about natural dyes that never looks wrong. The walnut huls were of good quality, freshly dried and a great size for dyeing with. The price was reasonable and I was able to dye a couple of pounds of yarn with the 8-ounce bag because a little goes a long way. No need to mordant your yarn when dyeing with black walnut because the dye already contains tanins which will help the dye adhere to the wool yarn. You can either crush up the hulls and add them to a pot of water or use the hulls as they are.
