I mean you can turn it counter clockwise all the way out and spray a stream 10 feet, of turn the nozzle clockwise in to have a fine mist about 18 inches out and 12 inches wide. You make the quantity dispensed how you need it. I've had mine now for about a year, use it every day and still works like the first day I used it, best spray unit I've ever used! **Q: will this work with mineral spirits?** A: I never used with mineral spirits….. but it worked great with a muratic acid and water mix to spray on as a boat cleaner…….. I bought these hoping they would work as described in the description paragraph on Amazon's page. The first one I used worked perfectly for about 11 months then began leaking and losing it's prime - having to squeeze the trigger 10-12 times to get it going again. Then it failed completely. The remaining 3 nozzles didn't work at all - failed right out of the box. All 4 nozzles in the trash now and I'm back to looking for great trigger nozzles that hold their prime, pump in any position and don't leak when upside-down.
