### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Saved me some $$$
*by G***G on January 14, 2014*

So here is the background as to why I ended up buying this repair kit...My A/C was not working and I had a service tech from a reputable company in my area come and check things out. The blower outside would run, but the system was not blowing cool air. After verifying that my coolant charge was fine he did some "measurements" on the outside unit. Basically all he did was measure a few of the points where the contactor and start capacitor are located. After appearing to fumble around a little bit he could not really give me a good diagnosis other than to say that the compressor was bad and that it would be $1500 to replace.Needless to say the high price tag and the tech's wishy-washy "inspection" did not sit very well with me. Later on last summer the heat got to be unbearable for the whole family so I decided I needed the peace of mind that the compressor was really the issue. After getting deeper into the outdoor unit, it was plain the see that one of the terminals at the compressor was completely corroded and was disconnected from the compressor terminal. I was able to get online info about my compressor model and the resistances across the terminals seemed to be within spec. Ordered this terminal repair kit and hooked it up and the A/C was blowing cool right away. Not too long afterwards, one of the terminals on the contactor (not one from this repair kit) vibrated loose and burned up causing the unit to stop working again. After easily replacing that, I was back in business. The only complaint that I had with the installation was that the terminals from the repair kit stick out a bit and I had some trouble getting the weatherproof terminal cover on the compressor back in place. I kind of had to force it and I'm sure that it smashed on the terminals a bit. Hopefully they are not pinned in too badly and don't wear through due to vibration in the future.Just want my story to be a lesson to others. While what the technician saw would indicate a bad compressor, he did not take the time to really get to the root of the problem. It makes me wonder if he was halfway through the repair job and saw what the problem really was whether or not he would have said anything or just went ahead and done the whole replacement. Just something to think about. It pays to do your own investigation (as much as you are able and are comfortable doing safely). This repair kit was a life (and wallet) saver for me.

While the cables are OK, the lug ends are too large and since I had to replace all three, would not fit. By bending one and nearly breaking off another terminal, they fit.

### ⭐⭐⭐ Could be better
*by M***O on October 9, 2012*

the lugs and the screws are made of brass and this type of material strips very easily. So tightened is not recommended. Therefore, some sore of loctite should be include alone with a recommended torque specification, because otherwise, the vibration will take the screws loose. Finally the wires should be longer than 2 feet for the price charged.
