## Overview

Penguin Pottery’s Floating Blue glaze is a 16 oz, medium-fire (Cone 5-6) ceramic glaze made in the USA by professional potters. It delivers unique color effects not achievable with low-fire glazes, is lead-free, non-toxic, and food safe when properly fired. Ideal for brush or dip application, it requires thorough mixing and kiln firing at the correct temperature for best results. Backed by a lifetime warranty, it’s a trusted choice for serious ceramic artists seeking vibrant, durable finishes.

## Description

Penguin Pottery glazes offer a wide range of effects including vibrant, bright, smooth, glossy, textured, satin, matte, opaque, semi-translucent, fluid, and non-fluid. Our low-fire glaze is perfect for school projects, classrooms, studios and potterists who don't have a fire at high temperatures. These low-fire glazes are a pottery choice when searching for a wide palette of colors including celadon, active red, deep green and bright blue. While our mid-fire glazes offer the same range, they provide interesting effects and tonality that are not available in low flame glazes. Our glaze is lead free, non-toxic and food safe (if fired and tested properly). Be sure to shake the jar well before use. Do not freeze. Try it and let us know your thought!

Review: I use it often. Make sure to always mix the bottom! It's incredible layers on top of peppered plum by mayco (video). Or alone like in my little soy sauce dipper.
Review: I took ceramic in my senior year of high school and I bought his glaze, even though it says cone 5 or 6, we tried it in cone 5 which what my teacher would use but the color wasn't looking good so she tried it at a cone 6 and it looked beautiful. So just check in with your teacher or professor to make sure they can fire it at the right cone.

## Features

- Our Floating Blue Glaze looks great on Cone 6. For best results, apply 3 coats We recommend you try layering them with these glazes!
- Our glaze is made in the USA by professional potters. Lead free, non-toxic and food safe (when firing and testing properly) Our medium fire glaze offers a range of colors similar to a low flame glaze, but when fired in a pottery kiln with 5 cones or 6 cones for interesting effects and tones that are not available in low flame glazes. The contents of the glaze may be slowing. It's normal! Ceramic glaze needs to be fully mixed for a smooth application. It is recommended to mix at least 1-2 minutes
- Ceramic glaze needs to be fired at the correct temperature in a pottery kiln. Do not bake in the kitchen oven. Ceramic kiln requires temperature adjustment to ensure it is fired at target temperature/cone. Ceramic glaze is classified by the temperature range ("conical") in three common groups: "low fires", "medium fire" and "high fire". Excessive firing may damage the work or kiln. Underfire delivers ugly results that won't look like the sample image
- Glaze may vary depending on the following factors: (a) Firing Temperature: Slight changes in temperature may result in different results; (b) Glazing clay body: the same glaze looks different when applied on dark clay and light clay. (c) Speed of kiln reaches target temperature; (d) Contains lots of oxygen to create the atmosphere of the kiln during firing. Please test it before pasting
- You can dip the bisque in the glaze or (b) brushing to apply the glaze. Our glaze is ready to apply with a brush. If you want to dip, we recommend applying a dispersant like Darvan
- [Lifetime Warranty] - All Penguin Pottery products are backed by our lifetime warranty. If there is any problem, we will refund or replace it. Please see the Warranty and Support section for more information

I've used this glaze on several clay bodies and every time, regardless of thickness of application (1, 2, 3 coats) the glaze simply doesn't liquefy at cone 6, so I'm left with ugly green/brown/black. Yes, I've tested the kiln heat, yes, they reached cone 6 temperatures. (It's a workshop membership, so I've varied the kilns too). I'm tired of wasting my time and effort with this garbage glaze. Will be using Maaco only from now on.
