## Description

This jacquard Dye-Na-Flow set includes a concentrated acrylic paint that allows you to flow freely in 10.5-2.4 fl oz jars. Can be used on untreated fabrics of both synthetic and natural materials, including wood, paper, clay, canvas, and leather. Dye-Na-flow mimics true dye that spreads onto the fabric until it is fully absorbed. Heat with dry iron. Can also be used to create sunprints, watercolors, stencils, batiques, and airbrushes. She paints clothing and accessories for a living and is a fabulous setting who swears by the colorfastness and wearability of this product. As an artist myself, I can’t wait to give it a try on some of my projects as well. This is the second time I have purchased and taken to her. If it can withstand the Aruban heat, wash and wear, I think it lives up to its name and standard as a quality product for fabric painting. Vibrant colors can be mixed and customized to your pallete.

## Questions & Answers

**Q: What is the difference between the dye-na-flow and the regular jacquard fabric paints?**
A: Dye-na-flow is a very liquid paint. Not a dye. It has to be heat set. It acts like a dye but there is no chemical reaction like there would be with dye and fabric. Regular jacquard fabric paints are much thicker than dye-na-flow paints more of a pudding or custard consistency. Both give good color on cloth but because dye-na-flow is so liquid it flows on to the fabric much more easily but won't work as well for stamping, stencils or printing on cloth.

**Q: How well do these paints work on cotton?**
A: I have great success with these on cotton.  I usually use a fine brush. They will bleed into each other and they will spread if you do not have some type of resist.  For a resist I have used wax, hot glue, white school glue, and even mod podge. I apply it with a fine tipped bottle. Air dry and then heat set with an iron.  If I'm using a larger brush, I try to dab off/let it drip before applying directly to fabric.  Also I have wetted the fabric to get a lighter/pastel tone. I hope some of this helps.

**Q: Will this work on Spandex?**
A: Not really, works best on 100% cotton. Comes out muted  on blends

**Q: Do these dyes do well on canvas?**
A: No.  These are fiber paints

Dye-Na-Flow is meant to be thin as water, so it functions almost like an ink but it is still paint. It is machine washable, BUT you should do a fair amount of prep to avoid the HEAVY fading that I saw. I used this and a combination of Jacquard's Lumiere metallic paint. What it does well: * Very thin consistency, after washing fabric does not remain stiff. * It does go a long way! I used a heavier hand than necessary and only used all of the black, blue, and green. * Colors mix like normal paint, so you can get the perfect color! * The thin consistency means the paint spreads, which is great for seamless blending and watercolor effects! What it's not good for: * This paint has low coverage, best used on white fabrics. I used Jacquard's Lumiere paints for highlights, and when I wanted crisp lines. *** Use a resist method to stop the spreading, it seems like an extra step but will save you SO much time in touchups! Tips before washing! * Give your paint time to dry! I was time-crunched and only waited until it was dry to the touch, wait at least 72 hours or longer for better results. * Use a heat press or plan to spend a while ironing your work after it dries. I had a spot I accidentally left my iron sitting on for a while, and it was the only spot that did not fade, do not skimp on this step!
