Unclear how to use because the instructions are inconsistent

*by A***R on Reviewed in the United States on December 22, 2018*

==>ACCREADY Representative: could you please reply to this review and answer the questions that I ask?<==I just purchased the ACCREADY 3 Stage Knife Sharpener. The labeling and description of the device itself, and the box, and the instructions card, are inconsistent and confusing. I don't want to use the device incorrectly so I'll explain here, and ask my questions here. (I tried to use the "ask questions" function but that only allows for very short questions). The sharpener has 3 slots. With the handle to your left they are labeled, from left to right, "Ceramic," Coarse," and "Fine."The "Ceramic" sharpening slot set contains what look like two sparkly silver-grey metallic rods. The "Coarse" sharpening slot set contains what looks like like a pair of scissors -- intersecting flat metal blades. The "Fine" sharpening slot set contains what look like two white rods. The outside of the box states this: "Place the blade in carbide cutting heads (Black in color)." Problem 1: none of the sharpening slot sets are "black" in color. For example, the plastic handle is black, but none of the sharpening slots contain anything close to that black color. Problem 2: no slot is identified as being the "carbide cutting heads."The outside of the box next states this: "place blade in ceramic fine smoothing rods (white in color)." Problem 3: the only sharpening slot that contains anything "white in color" is the slot labeled "fine" with the two white rods. But, confusingly, there is a slot labeled "ceramic" containing the sparkly silver-grey metallic rods. I assume that slot is NOT the "ceramic fine smoothing rods."Contrary to the outside of the box, and the device, the enclosed directions card states this: "Insert the blade into the ceramic slot (in black color)." Problem 4: that slot contains nothing black; it contains the sparkly silver-grey metallic rods. Is that slot the same as what the outside of the box calls the "carbide cutting heads (Black in color)" -- even though they don't seem to be black, and even though the slot is labeled "ceramic," not "carbide"?The enclosed directions card next states this: "place blade in coarse slot (in metal color)." That does accurately describe the middle slot, but Problem 5: why is this slot never mentioned on the directions on the outside of the box?The enclosed directions card next states this: "place blade in fine slot." On the device, that is the slot to the right, with the two white rods. So, note that the outside of the box has you apparently using the left slot and then the right slot, with no mention of using the middle slot. The inside-the-box direction card calls things by different names, and has you use all three slots, apparently from left to right. Here is what I deduce:The slot to the left, labeled "ceramic," is the same as what the outside of the box calls the "carbide cutting heads" even though they are not "Black in color." I have no ceramic knifes. Is this to be used with ceramic knifes? The slot to the right, labeled "fine," with the two white rods, is the same as what the outside of the box calls "ceramic fine smoothing rods (white in color)," even though the left slot is labeled "ceramic."Because of this confusion, I am not completely sure how to use the device. I have only metal knifes. For very dull metal blades would I:* First use the middle slot (labeled "coarse") with what looks like a pair of scissors -- intersecting flat metal blades?* Next use the slot on the right (labeled "fine") containing the two white rods?If I have no ceramic knifes, would I ever use the slot to the left labeled "ceramic" on a metal knife?

    Confusing instructions

*by Y***I on Reviewed in the United States on January 5, 2019*

I received the knife sharpener in a timely manner and in perfect condition. I love the little instruction card that comes with it. I used it to sharpen my large kitchen knife. But I only gave it four stars, instead of five, because the instructions are very confusing. The instructions on the insert card are different than the instructions on the box. And either way, they don't make a lot of sense. Since there are three slots, I just ran my knife through the slots one at a time, from left to right. It did sharpen the knife.

    Works like a charm!

Best kitchen knife sharpener. Restored a chef's knife and others that was dulling. Make sure to read the using instructions in greeting cards which only need to pull knives in one direction (towards you). For my dull chef's knife I did about 10-12 pulls through #1 and making sure I kept contact all the way to the knife tip. I used just a little downward pressure to make sure there was good contact. After using it, I just place it under the tap and rinse the metal scrap with clean water.
