Cheaper than paraffin inside two months.

*by D***T on Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 2 March 2017*

Like many people I was weighing the choice between paraffin and propane. This heater costs about thirty maybe forty quid more than a paraffin heater. But is it worth it?Answer is for me is yes.Paraffin heaters come in two broad sizes. 3.5l or 5l. Average that takes about £5.00 to fill. Each fill lasts 3-5 days depending on how high you have it. That is thirty quid a month. Seems pricey to me. Ninety quid for the winter? This heater uses propane, and it has a thermostat that turns it on or off. I have a caravan and a big BBQ that both use propane so I have the cylinders already. I connected my small propane cylinder. The cylinder is transparent so I marked the gas level with a pen. It has now been on for nearly a week. The gas level hasn't moved so much as a millimeter and the greenhouse is constant at about 10 deg which is what I need for germination and wintering. If I had bought the paraffin heater, I would have already used 10l of fuel.On unpacking, it requires the legs to be screwed onto the base of it. It comes with a regulator, length of gas hose and two Jubilee clips. The regulator was no good as I use Gaslight cylinders from Homebase which need a BP/GasLight Bottle 27mm Clip On Propane Regulator 37mbar. Fortunately I had a spare. Fitting the hose was simple, push on and tighten the jubilee. Connect the other end to the heater. Unclip the thermostat and draw out the wire fully.Using is easy, but I would advise reading the sticker on the side of the heater rather than using the written instructions which are poor and very tiny print.1. Connect it all up and turn on the regulator. You might want to spray a little bit of soapy water onto the hose joins. If it bubbles, gas is escaping and you might need to refit or tighten the hose joints.2. The instructions advise raising the heater up off the floor. I used four old bricks3. Fix the thermostat element somewhere in the middle of the greenhouse4. Turn control knob to '6'5. Just next to the control knob is a brass coloured rod. It doesn't do anything if you turn it! Just push in and hold.6. On the other side of the heater is the igniter. Keep the rod pushed in. 15 seconds, later, without releasing the rod, depress the igniter until the pilot lights.7. Keep the brass rod pushed in for twenty seconds more until the re-igniter element next to the pilot is red hot. This will take about twenty seconds, after which you can release the brass rod.8. The heater will have now ignited fully. Turn the control knob down to your desired temperature and that is it. I set mine to 2 which works fine for me. Get a greenhouse max/min thermometer and experiment a bit.I've worked it out that this heater will prove to be cheaper than paraffin inside two months. Three at the outside. So spend more now to save later. And no black residue on your greenhouse panels. Very pleased with it.

    Thermostat issues..

*by S***3 on Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 8 January 2020*

Well it certainly pumps out the heat!!It's a really product the only problem we had was with the thermostat. The thin copper wire that's tied behind the heater extends, to an end probe. Finding a position within the greenhouse can be tricky. We found the heater was on constantly even on zero.I think the instructions could be a bit clearer with regards to the thermostat posititioning. We have used quite a lot of gas in a short space of time. Other than issues with the thermostat it's a good heater but then again it wants to be for the price

Lyfestyle 1.9 heater thermostat set up.

*by P***L on Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 16 November 2013*

This heater is brilliant delivery exceptional. So why 4stars instead of 5 Stars. This is because of the instructions setting up no problems but once up and running it was heating my greenhouse to 23 degrees on the lowest setting not good, then I discovered the thermostat is clipped in at the back, when you pull it out its attached to a long coil wire witch allows you to position the thermostat higher attached mine on a wire so it hangs from the roof, then works perfectly. Another tip in my 7x5ft greenhouse the thermostat control works on 5 degree increments lowest setting 1= 5 degrees 2 = 10 3= 15 making the top 6 = 30 .I hope people find this helpfull.
