You can run the v2 software on the v1, but the v2 has a nicer cable going between the cam and dvr, and it has a mic. The lens is very cheap plastic that is not as sharp with artifacts during certain lighting conditions. Can be easily solved by upgrading to an RC25G Gopro Style Lens but after price of Lens you may want to consider RunCam Split.
