It has a 0 to 100 counter with one revolution equivalent to 0.1", and the white-face dial has a scratch-resistant crystal face for ease of reading. The plunger on the back of the dial comes with 1/2", 5/16", and 1/8" diameter contact points. The dial indicator has a 1/4" diameter stainless-steel shank for mounting. Some dial indicator sets include an adapter, a standard letter of certification, and clamp, tool post holder, snug, and hole attachments. Although it is graduated in .001", you can be more accurate than that with the indicator, since most of the time you will be indicating so that the needle does not move at all, not just that it moves less than one graduation.If I had tried this indicator out before buying other kinds, I would probably have not bought as many indicators as I have, it fills a lot of roles, and covers a good deal of the indicating requirements in a machine shop.
