    Great Book, Tons of Ideas.

Overall, a great quality hard cover book which offer's many unusual and weird settings for your Numenera players to discover.The first section deals with objects and places that are near Earth such as the moon, Mars, etc. and how you can pull off getting your characters to said locations. The next section deals with things farther out in the solar system such as an abandoned space ship or floating cities in a gas giant; the last section has some truly bizarre settings in the Milky Way and beyond such as psychic constructs around a black hole, megastructures, etc.Near the end of the book you have a small selection of one page alien planets and an adventure hooks as well as a small selection of alien creatures.  Very creative and you can always use many of the ideas in other RPG's as well such as Traveller.

Mit INTO THE NIGHT wird für Monte Cooks NUMENERA ein spannendes Quellenbuch vorgelegt – schließlich geht dieser Band um das Thema, NUMENERA-Abenteuer im Weltraum zu erleben.Wie man sich vorstellen kann: das Weltraum im NUMENERA-Universum ist nicht minder durchgeknallt und exotisch wie die Erde…Das Herz von INTO THE NIGHT bilden letztlich die Beschreibungen diverser Locations, welche nun Planeten, Raumschiffe und Megastrukturen sein können. Drei dieser neuen Locations finden sich im Erde-Mond-System, vier innerhalb des Sonnensystems und sechs weit darüber hinaus.Gut finde ich, dass die Locations allesamt sehr denkwürdig, sehr abwechslungsreich und angemessen schräg sind… wer ein generisches SF-Setting erwartet ist mit INTO THE NIGHT (natürlich) falsch beraten. INTO THE NIGHT ist ein Sammelsurium exotischer, fremdartiger Orte, bei welchen auch die Zeit rückwärts laufen kann oder sonstige abgedrehte Dinge passieren… wie gut sich einige dieser Orte für Rollenspielabenteuer eignen sei dahingestellt und jeder Gruppe selbst überlassen, ich könnte mir jedoch vorstellen, dass es manchmal schwer sein dürfte, die Eigenarten mancher Orte zu beschreiben und zu erfassen.Die Aufmachung und Ausstattung ist – wie gewohnt für NUMENERA – sehr überzeugend: Hardcover, durchgehend Farbe, 160 Seiten, viel Inhalt und keine Seitenschinderei. Die Illustrationen sind einmal mehr phantastisch.Insgesamt also ein Sourcebook, welches jedem NUMENERA Spielleiter empfohlen werden kann – ob man nun NUMENERA noch abgedrehter und exotischer machen muss sei mal dahingestellt, bei INTO THE NIGHT finden sich allerdings ohne Frage viele spannende Ideen und jede Menge Inspirationen, zusammen mit einem anständigen Preis-Leistungs-Verhältnis!
