I bought this cable specifically to install a USB wall outlet behind my couch going to my PS4 console for use with a wired controller connection. This cable is male to male and the repeater is to one side of the cable which worked great for me since I was running it down two walls and across the attic. When I first installed it I put the shorter end from the repeater box to the console side, tried it and found that I had charging but no data, I reversed the cable ( long end to the console from the repeater ) to the console and BINGO that worked! So to save yourself a ton of time by learning from my mistake!
