You have Been Warned- Update: Customer service did its job well
Canon PowerShot SX410 IS (Red) Either the unit I received was defective or I was given a used and broken camera. When I started to use the unit, I noticed that it takes some time for the camera to save the image before you can take the next picture. Very annoying when you take successive shots. I tried changing the 32G memory card from Sandisk to Transcend and even loaded another 64G Sandisk but it still lagged. The menu button needed some effort to press to make it work. Like everybody who buys something new, I expect the unit to be working as advertised. The box should be in factory condition and unopened. And the unit should be brand new as advertised. I cannot understand how HAWTHORNE could stuff the unit with its obviously tattered box and send it to the customer who paid for a brand new item. Below are pictures that i have taken on the very same day I received the unit. For a seller with so many positive reviews, how can this happen? I have tried to contact their customer service but nothing good has come out of it and I am still waiting. UPDATE: Customer service has acknowledged the problem- a step in resolving a dispute. Sometimes, acknowledging the problem helps us move on. That simple gesture spells a big difference. Since this was meant to be a gift, I will just buy another item in lieu of replacement.

Great camera for a point and shoot with a few extras
This is a great little camera. A bit more bulky than a typical point and shoot, but the huge zoom lens makes it worth it. So far I have been using it mainly with the auto settings and it does a great job even with action shots of my grandchildren and my dog frolicking in the water. I did try out the zoom at night without a tripod or flash and got an amazing shot of the moon with incredible detail. I held the camera steady with both hands and no blur at all. I am looking forward to getting some nice fireworks shots this weekend. The camera does have more versatility for those who want to dabble in the manual settings but this is not meant to replace the much more expensive manual cameras. The battery lasts quite a while but I also keep an extra one charged and handy in case I need it. For what it is, this camera is definitely a winner.

I am VERY happy with the zoom
When I chose this camera (Canon Powershot SX410 IS) I was under the impression there would be a menu containing special filters or effects. I have searched through the menus and have yet to find the noted effects (what Amazon's site had mentioned). I also wish there was a way to force the flash. However, it goes or doesn't go, depending on its own evaluation of the light. I have found no consistency in the lighting of a space. I am VERY happy with the zoom. I can stand at one end of the block, and fill the frame with an adult standing at the other end. The picture quality and video quality are pleasing.

Great investment.
I've owned Canon Camera's for 42 years personal and professional use. Both film and digital, tons of accessories, flashes lenses you name it. I bought this one for my wife's trip to Hawaii with our granddaughter. She requested a new Canon with special features (she already owns 2 others). She wanted very compact, high mega-pixel (20), high speed, low light capability, and video features. It did the trick, photos of Hawaii and all the islands visited are stunning. Great investment...wish she'd let me play with it, fits nicely in palm of my hand, unlike my professional grade Canon camera's and lenses that make you feel like you are going on safari and will be tired before get there. Great purchase, Great price, Great Canon Quality...can't go wrong.
