The first four ingredients are deboned chicken, chicken meal, turkey meal and deboned cod. Review: We’ve been using this cat food for over three years, with no issues. None of our cats (one male, two females) have ever had any issues with it. Of course that does not mean it will agree with every kitty, but we have had no issues, thankfully. It gives our kitties the silkiest, softest coats! Our youngest came to us with intestinal parasites, underweight, with food aggression, and a scraggly coat. Despite her ravenous hunger, she really hated the food the shelter provided. Once we started her on this, she was actually eating, poor baby! And within a few weeks, her coat was soft and smooth! Of course we treated her for the parasites too. (Before and after pics attached.) My only complaint is that the kibble size is so small that they don’t really have to chew it once they are half grown, so I really doubt we get any of the dental benefit dry food can typically provide. We use dental treats instead. Our kitties are free-fed this dry food and have never had any weight problems. We also give 1/8 of the jumbo can of Nulo wet food mixed with water to each kitty daily. I highly recommend that too—it keeps them hydrated and can prevent the urinary tract issues dry food can lead to (especially in males). We only recently started doing this—our male cat was on this food for three years without wet food and still had no issues. Make sure you change food gradually, or it can certainly lead to stomach problems and diarrhea. We’re really happy with this food. Hoping we can continue to afford it.
Review: Expensive but the best food ever. My cats had eczema, allergies and losing too much of hair (Rex Cornish cats). It took me so long to find a food that would bring the best for all of them. After a month of Nulo, they are now healthy, active and so soft. I recommend this food.

**Q: the package says it's grain free but then it says it has peas and lentils in it.  Peas and lentils are grains. How is it legal to lie on the label ?**
A: Hello! Please know that grains are seeds derived from grasses called cereals, such as wheat, barley, rye, corn, millet, oats, sorghum, spelt, and rice. Legumes are any plant that grows in a pod, such as peas and lentils. While legumes may be called grains in everyday conversation, however, they are not technically grains. **Q: Are the kibbles small enough for a tiny kitten ?**
A: I would say, Yes. I just measured them, and each kibble is just under 1/4 inch around, and smaller than that from top to bottom. If you still had concerns for your tiny kitten, you could probably rinse the kibbles with a bit a water that you then drain off, just to soften them.  (My opinion.) You could even ask a vet what they recommend. We fed these to our new kitten from the start, when we got her at 9 weeks old.  Our much older cat loves them too.

**Q: Why cranberry in cat food?**
A: Blueberries and cranberries are both popular in dog and cat foods for their antioxidant, health and pigmentation qualities

**Q: Why sweet potato? It is very high in oxalic acid, will case kidney stones**
A: Hello! Cats are obligate carnivores and have no real need for carbohydrates in their diet, however, some level of carbohydrates is required to form a dry kibble - otherwise, it would fall apart. So, instead of using high-glycemic carbohydrates with little nutritional value like wheat, corn, soy, tapioca, or white potato, we use only low-glycemic, whole-food carbohydrate sources like peas, lentils, and sweet potatoes. Sweet potatoes are a great source of both soluble and insoluble fiber, as well as antioxidants such as beta-carotene, Vitamin C, Vitamin E, and the minerals potassium, calcium and iron. Best dry cat food hands down. My kitties love this brand and so far all the flavors. The size of the kibble is small enough for them to easily chew. It’s got great ingredients and it’s a very trustworthy brand. Highly recommend.
