Review: Whoa.... good knife. - Other than the obvious good quality, it has a handy fire starter and sharpener built in. It shows Gerber's military heritage with a hard sheath which locks the blade securely but can be drawn silently and effortlessly with one hand. I'll never need to sneak up and kill a man... but with this knife I could. I'll never be without a match... but with this knife I don't need one.

A: Don't listen to fools...I have the black and it's made in USA (says Portland, OR USA right on the blade).

**Q: Is the steel 420HC or sandvik 12c27?  Reading conflicting descriptions**
A: 420HC is what you'll most likey get.

**Q: What is the length of the blade?**
A: 9.75 overall full tang, 4.75 actual blade length.

**Q: What kind of steel is used in the blade?**
A: Gerber products use a 100% high-grade stainless steel.  Stainless steel is not completely resistant to rust but rather is corrosion resistant to rust.  Corrosion can occur in the absence of proper maintenance.  Your Gerber product should be cleaned, dried and re-oiled periodically to inhibit rust and corrosion; this is especially true in a damp or marine environment.  If your Gerber product comes in contact with any substance that you are uncertain about, it is always a good idea to wash your blade off with tap water, dry it and apply a light coat of oil.  If your Gerber product comes into contact with saltwater you must flush it with tap water immediately after use and coat it with good quality lightweight oil.  Salt water is extremely corrosive and will attack and destroy any type of steel.

Other than the obvious good quality, it has a handy fire starter and sharpener built in. It shows Gerber's military heritage with a hard sheath which locks the blade securely but can be drawn silently and effortlessly with one hand. I'll never need to sneak up and kill a man... but with this knife I could. I'll never be without a match... but with this knife I don't need one.

### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Great All-In-One Tool

This is a reasonably priced knife for everyday outdoor carry, kit, or bug-out bag. The knife is sharp out of the package and the sheath appears surprisingly well built. This piece feels nice in your hand and the sheath seems good and of nice quality with what appears to be high quality stitching as well. As you can see in my photos I have made a few personal modifications like adding a leather dangler so the knife rides lower and hopefully provides some strength and longevity to the sheath strap. Another reason is the ability to add it to your belt or molle on your bag. The paracord is nicely placed and gives additional cordage for a leg tie or any other needs. Like others the ferro rod rides upside down but is FIRMLY secure to the sheath with a gasket seal and requires some effort to deploy it. Keep in mind that the ferro rod is a last resort so you should not have to remove it constantly if as always you carry matches or a lighter. I am very confident that it will stay in place with minimal risk of coming out or becoming lost. I would by this again and recommend it to anyone looking for a cost effective outdoor, kit, or bug-out-bag knife.
