YES YOU CAN GO HOME AGAIN
I never thought I would ever be able to play the “real” RCT game again, but I was hopeful when this “Classic”-branded title was announced for the Switch. This edition definitely satisfies my nostalgia for the PC version – it truly does bring back the feeling of playing the original RCT computer game. One of the most important things to know is that for the price you get a TON of content. You get almost all of the park scenarios from RCT 1, RCT 2, Added Attractions, Loopy Landscapes, Wacky Worlds, and Time Twister – over 130 scenarios to play. But be warned the majority of them have to be unlocked a few at a time by beating the available scenarios. The other thing to keep in mind is that this is the original game, so all the things you liked about the original game you will still love, but all the things you found frustrating about the original game will still irritate you. As far as it being on the Switch instead of a PC, one helpful feature is the ability to use the X and Y buttons to jump directly to the Staff and Build menus without having to move the cursor all the way across the screen. On the other hand the tutorial for new players isn’t as helpful as tutorials I’ve seen on other simulator Switch games, but I imagine this title is meant for those who have played the original RCT which means you won’t need a tutorial anyway, just dive right in and it will come back to you. The biggest complaint I have about this version is it doesn’t have the “scenario editor” that allowed you to pre-design an entire scenario from scratch on your own, which was available in the PC version. (Hopefully a “RCT Scenario Maker” title will be coming soon??) But at least this version does have a Ride Designer that lets you make coasters in an off-line mode (rather than having to build them while the scenario clock is ticking) and save them for use in the scenario parks. But keep in mind you can’t change their default metrics, i.e. you can’t edit the names or intensities of the Motion Simulator or 3D Cinema shows, etc. Finally and most importantly, be warned that once you have a really big park with a lot of guests, the frame rate can slow down to the point where it’s very hard to get the cursor over the precise part of the screen you want to select, but if you move your view away from the park, the accuracy is restored. As long as you keep that in mind, you will enjoy this, as it really does come extremely close to recreating the experience of the original PC game. It’s time to party like it’s 1999!

Best RCT version that’s also portable
Amazing re-creation of the old classic! I’ve purchased other versions of RCT but this is the best one by far bringing back nostalgia! And the fact that it’s on the Switch means I can play it anywhere!

Nostalgic!
So nostalgic! I was so excited when I found out they were releasing the classic version of RCT. I grew up playing this every day after school on our desktop. This is spot on. You even get to pick up your handymen and drop them in areas to clean up vomit and empty trash bins! Controls are easy to use on the switch surprisingly. Definitely a calm game to play before bed.
