Not tacky like a more utilitarian plastic box but a plain wooden nondescript box. It’s light and robust enough. I don’t think it would be too hardwearing if it were constantly opened and thrown about. The hinges certainly don’t look too robust. The finish is fine especially after I applied some wood oil. For what I need, perfect.
