I also expected the corners to snap together like the picture, but one of the corners had two of the same halves of the button, so they don't snap together. Attached is an image of the ideal button positions so that each corner would snap (and as a bonus: the mat could be snapped while folded in half in either direction), compared to what I received which is a very random design.
