I purchased these pads based on the reviews, and they truly exceeded my expectations. My dad is diabetic and has extremely fragile, "onion-thin" skin. He accidentally scraped his arm on a doorway and ended up tearing off the top layer of skin—it was pretty intense. While the wound wasn’t deep enough to require a hospital visit, it was raw and painful. Initially, we used Solosite Wound Gel (left over from a previous hospital stay), along with gauze pads and bandage wrap. Unfortunately, every time we changed the dressing, it would stick to the healing skin and pull it off again, forcing his body to start the healing process all over. I was on the verge of calling his doctor for advice when I came across a review on Amazon that mentioned using these PolyMem pads along with a clear “second-skin” dressing. That combination was a game-changer. Not only did the pads provide cushioning and protection, but they also didn’t stick to the wound. We found that we didn’t need to change the dressing daily—every three days was sufficient. The only reason we changed it that often was because the edges of the second-skin dressing would start to lift and catch on his clothes. Each time we changed the dressing, we were amazed at how much healing had occurred. His wound is now completely healed, with no scarring at all. These pads are absolutely a must-have for any home first aid kit. Yes, they’re a bit pricey, but they’re worth every penny—and since they can be cut to size, we were able to get two uses out of each one. I wish I had taken before-and-after photos to show the difference, but honestly, the “before” might have been too graphic to share. Still, I can’t recommend these enough.

I am diabetic and have paper thin skin. I started using these pads at a hospital for an abscess. The speed of healing is impressive. No more ripping off the top layer of the wound and starting over everytime I change the dressing.
