That method has a good track record, but is very time consuming. It can take a few weeks just to rule out one food "sensitivity", or to find out nothing at all. And that process repeats over and over and over until the patient has found a diet that does not cause distress to their digestive system. Too painful and too slow for me, so I bit the bullet and ordered this test (with same-day delivery even). Test results were timely and very helpful. I don't need to waste time filtering things like alcohol, caffeine, and dairy from my diet (for now) and can just focus on eliminating gluten. And if there is a response to that, I can take everything to my doctor and see if I should be tested for an official diagnosis of something. I'd definitely recommend this over or in conjunction with an elimination diet, BUT I WON'T RECOMMEND IT BECAUSE I AM NOT QUALIFIED TO DO SO. I'm happy with my decision though.Hope this helps.**update 8/9/19: MightyDNA let me know that in the last few days, they added 5 SNPs for gluten to their testing (at no charge to me). And they make sure every SNP they use is peer-reviewed beforehand so you can trust their results!
