how soft are the ankle pads

I would say that they are comfortable. I am 67 and 190 lb. One small issue is that the pads close higher on my leg then the narrow of my ankle. As a result, I need to slide upside down downward a few inches before I hit the stops at my ankles. Then coming back upright takes a little more effort since my balance point has shifted.

Are you able to easily fold this up for esy storage? Or would you have to get tools and partially disassemble it?

It doesn't fold up very small (a disappointment) as you have to leave it partially open so it sets on both front and back legs. I made the mistake of putting the pin where they suggest for storage, then forgetting to remove it before opening it; the pin got crammed into the storage hole and needed pliers to pull it out. Other than that, I love it!

Since this is an out-of-state gift and the packaging reveals the contents of the box, can this be shipped for pickup at a fedex or ups depot?
