They are perfect for my frequent entertaining allowing me to keep dips, sour cream, salad dressings, etc. cold for long periods of time. I actually put some water in the bowl, place the insert into the bowl then freeze it the night before. You'll need to weight it down with something as the water will make the insert float if you don't. The next morning you'll have a great receptacle for anything that needs to be kept cold.
