What this does help with is let you know what you need to study up/refer to in the official study guide, and help define what material you need to spend more time on. What it also helps with is getting you some practice on how to approach these questions, and weed out the answers that are wrong. For the actual exam, you must actually know the material, and this book is a piece to the much larger puzzle of getting yourself prepared. I never actually used the book, so I purchased the Kindle version. The real value with this purchase is the online versions of the test, and you get access to the practice tests for a year after registering. Completely invaluable, and very helpful. I wholeheartedly agree with folks that stated that you shouldn't rely on it (or any one item) as the sole resource. Read the material, take the tests in the books, take the online tests and keep taking them. The amount of information covers many subjects, but if you follow Mike's recommendations you'll be ready. How long your preparation takes depends on your previous and current exposure to the subjects covered but you will get it if you stick to it. Again, get the books, take the time to prepare, test, test, test and you will be ready.
