Can this test semi precious gemstones such as quartz, amazonite, lapis etc?

I always test a diamond first to calibrate it. A lot depends on the temperature in your room and the stone you are testing. Once it is set and your diamond goes into the red, then test your other stones. I have found that if it is a semi precious stone there will be a movement from your starting lights by maybe one or two sections. If however the stone you are testing is glass it doesn't move at all. Cubic zirconium also moves the light. It takes a few goes to find the right settings each time because of surrounding temperature. Sorry I can't help any further....I am still learning myself!

Can it identify natural Zircon

My understanding is that it will not specifically identify zircon but would tell you the stone in question was not glass, crystal or diamond. As it works on conductivity I would expect zircon to give a high reading but not as high as diamond.

What number is for emerald?

I don't know, but the best thing to do would be to find out using a known genuine emerald - someone you know will have one. But remember that apart from diamond, a particular value will only tell you the stone has conductive properties consistent with being an emerald - it would not be a definite identification.
