I was thinking that this shirt would make a good base layer, but my experience is that it can, but has some annoying features that make it seem best worn by itself. The shirt does breath well and I found I was comfortable wearing it all day. The only part that wasn’t comfortable is the encyclopedia of tags sown on the the lower left side of the shirt. The tags are relatively soft, but sometimes can feel a little poky/scratchy and be annoying. The fabric feels plenty soft, but it is grippy with other fabrics, which means if you want to have this as a base layer (or really any other layer) it will want to drag across other clothing that you try to don or take off and either bunch up or not stay in place. This is not an issue if you don’t plan on putting anything over it, or maybe something that is rather slick, like a silk or something. The seeming grippiness of the shirt is also a bane with it comes to pet fur as it will stick like glue and you will have a terrible time getting it off. Even going through the wash, the pet fur just clings to this shirt for dear life. This is very annoying. The size of the shirt seems to run large. I expected this to be a tighter fit, but it is a little loose and the sleeves are much longer than they need to be. I can put my thumbs through the holes in the sleeves, stretch my arms all the way out, and they still have some slack in them. I guess this means it will be all good if you wear a medium and are on the taller side (have longer arms). Aside from some of the annoying things mentioned, this is a nice shirt. It is comfortable and does well to help regulate body temperature by providing some cooling affect. It will provide some protection from the sun too. I am thinking that even when riding my motorcycle, this would make a great base layer under my protective jacket to help keep me a little cooler in the summer.

Comfort and good quality

I use these shirts for hiking and other outdoor activities. This is the third time that I have ordered this shirt over the last 10 or so years. Liked everything about it EXCEPT now it has those darn thumb holes which makes the sleeves 2 inches too long.

The sleeves are disproportionately long! Unless your arms hang down to your knees this shirt won't fit anyone.
