When I first received it I thought it was a little small. It is called "medium" but I feel it is on the smaller side. I thought about returning it and getting the large Emerson but it was over $100 more. I decided to stick with this one and get more organized. I have a large wallet that I stand upright, then I have a small makeup bag with miscellaneous items and then my sunglasses. I use the inside pockets for cell phone and other small things. I love the side pockets and I am using those as well. I have come to really like the size as it's lighter than my normal large purses. I also love the top straps and the longer adjustable crossbody strap. I used a brown suede bag for the last few winters and got tons of compliments on it--it's turned out to be exactly the same case with this bag. Beautiful leather, gorgeous stitching, and a great combination of pretty colors. I love the fact that it's three tones of colors. Makes it look very rich. The only draw back is the size. It's just a bit too small. However, I don't usually carry a million things around with me. I also have the Emerson regular size tote and that one is the perfect size.
